Over 14,000 Violators Apprehended in Saudi Arabia in One Week

In a recent update from the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia, it has been disclosed that a total of 14,529 individuals were arrested within a single week for various violations related to residence, work, and border security laws. The Saudi authorities have been vigilant in their efforts to enforce these laws, and the consequences for violators are severe, with concealers facing a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and a fine of one million riyals.

These arrests were made possible through a coordinated and intensive series of field operations carried out from August 17 to August 23, 2023, as outlined in a statement from the Ministry of Interior. The operations yielded the following outcomes:

  1. 14,529 Violators Apprehended: The joint security field operations conducted throughout the Kingdom led to the apprehension of a significant number of violators. Of these, 8,512 had violated residence legislation, 3,959 were found to be in violation of border security laws, and 2,058 were offenders of labor laws.
  2. Foreign Nationals Arrested: Among those arrested were 898 individuals attempting to enter the Kingdom without proper authorization. It is noteworthy that 63% of these unauthorized entrants were of Yemeni nationality, while 36% were Ethiopian, and the remaining 1% came from other countries. Additionally, 64 people were detained for making unauthorized attempts to cross the border into the Kingdom.

These actions underscore Saudi Arabia's commitment to maintaining the integrity of its residence, work, and border security laws. With the substantial number of violators apprehended in just one week, it is evident that the authorities are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to ensure compliance with these essential regulations. The Ministry of Interior's unwavering dedication to upholding the rule of law demonstrates its commitment to the safety and security of the Kingdom.
