Saudi Arabia Prohibits Quranic Verse Engravings on Jewelry

Saudi Arabia has recently implemented a ban on the practice of engraving Quranic verses on jewelry and gold embroidery. The aim of this move is to safeguard the sanctity of the Holy Quran, as reported by local media outlet Okaz. The Ministry of Commerce in Saudi Arabia has emphasized the significance of refraining from inscribing Quranic verses on jewelry.

This prohibition is based on an official communication from the Mufti of the kingdom, who expressed concerns that such objects could potentially be used as amulets, a practice forbidden in Islam. Furthermore, the distinguished Saudi scholar highlighted that such inscriptions on gold ornaments can compromise the sanctity of the Quranic passages and may be considered impure when wearers visit restrooms.

The decision underscores the importance of respecting the sacredness of Quranic verses and aims to prevent their potential misuse. By taking this step, Saudi Arabia seeks to maintain the purity and reverence of the Holy Quran in line with Islamic principles.
